Christl Stringer

January 7-February 18, 2023
Opening Reception | January, 7th, 6-9pm

Mission in Arts is excited to present ‘Bubblegum’, a solo exhibition of paintings by Christl Stringer. Christl’s paintings are a window into the experiences of a Black woman in modern America. She analyzes how society’s stronghold on Capitalism commodifies Black culture and calls attention to its destructive effects on Black people. Christl’s work explores vulnerability, spite, and reluctant humor; while interrogating the systems that uphold white supremacy. Through color and figurative surrealism she expresses “how things feel when you stare at them too long, or allow them to sit on your heart a little too heavily.”

Christl’s work has been shown at SPRING/BREAK Art Show, Gallery Arte Azulejo, Shockboxx Projects, Latela Curatorial, Hot Bed Gallery, Maake Projects Gallery, Piano Craft Gallery, and Philly Art Collective. Her films and scripts have been accepted into NFFTY, Thuh Film Festival, New Haven International Film Festival, and Another Hole In The Head Film Festival.
